The coast of Ireland has long been recognised by those in-the-know as being ideal for watersports, most notably for surfing.  Lahinch, a popular sea-bathing spot since the Victorian era, provides optimal conditions for complete beginners, as well as providing challenging waves for the more experienced surfer.  Several surf schools operate there, providing lessons to individuals and groups of all ages, as well as companies which rent equipment to experienced surfers. In recent years, these companies and others have begun to provide lessons, equipment and tours in kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, at Lahinch and further afield.
